I woke up this morning in love with that crisp air. This is my time people. Having mostly Pitta in my constituition (we can get into that at another time) this cool down is what I needed. A nice way for my body to take a breath. With this delicious crisp air comes some of my favorite foods. Like figs. And with figs comes my favorite figgy breakfast of Warm Oats With Figs Nuts Seeds And A Peanut Butter Drizzle.
Who Likes Oatmeal.
Oatmeal my friends has come a long way. Personally I grew up with the multi box of Quaker Oats. You know the apple and cinnamon, peaches and cream and the maple, brown sugar one. Of course my favorite was the maple and brown sugar one. Who didn’t like at least one of them. It wasn’t my favorite breakfast. I was much more of a poached egg and toast girl back then. Yup my Dad spoiled me early on with that breakfast delight
Now days the varieties of oatmeal are endless. Steel Cut Oats, Old Fashioned Oats, Quick Oats, Oat Bran. Currently I’m a fan of the Bobs Red Hot Mill 8 Grain Cereal. Since becoming gluten free, oatmeal has become a warm filling breakfast go too.
Who Knew, Oatmeal is good for you.
Oatmeal is full of fiber and nutrients. It’s a complete source of whole grains and is the perfect vehicle for any additional nutrients. I no longer think it’s a chore to eat oatmeal. Grandma was right all along! My health conscious, middle age self now thrives on it! Oh how times have changed.
This Warm Oats With Figs Nuts Seeds And A Peanut Butter Drizzle is like a warm blanket for your belly. The melted drizzle of the peanut butter and maple syrup with the sweet tartness of the figs with crumbled the bitter earthiness of the walnuts. This cereal is best served sitting outside, curled up in a chair, while taking in the beautiful scenery.
